Jones Gallery Lecture Series | Molly Lamb Bobak

Jones Gallery Lecture Series presents an introduction to the work of Molly Lamb Bobak, RCA (Canadian, 1922-2014). We will examine Lamb Bobak’s early life and training in Vancouver, BC, her experience during World War II as a Canadian War Artist and subsequent move to Fredericton, NB. We will also look at her masterful handling of crowds and her approach to depicting gatherings, marches, parades, and sporting events. Lamb Bobak is also known for her sensitive watercolour still lifes of flowers, a subject which she approached like a crowded landscape: "Poppies are like crowds," she told the CBC in 1943, "you don't organize them."
