Sarah Jones, Curator of Jones Contemporary and Jones Auction House, presents a talk about Nova Scotia artist, Maud Lewis (1901-1970). We will explore Lewis’ technique and materials, her approach to painting and composition, and common themes and motifs.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Sarah Jones (BA, MA Art History, Queen’s University) is a visual artist, art historian, and curator. She conducted her graduate research on twentieth-century Canadian art and Nova Scotia artist, Maud Lewis, and recently participated in a panel discussion at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia about Lewis’ work in the marketplace. Sarah teaches art history occasionally at University of New Brunswick Saint John.
